- 1 cup oat flour
- ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds
- 1/4 cup natural peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- ¼ cup milk plus more as needed
- ¼ cup mini dark chocolate chips
- Pinch sea salt
Mix the Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the oat flour, rolled oats, chocolate protein powder, chia seeds, and sea salt.
Add the peanut butter, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and milk. Stir until the mixture is well combined.
Fold in the mini dark chocolate chips.
Form the Protein Balls
The mixture should be soft and hold together when pressed. If it feels too dry or crumbly, add an additional 1 teaspoon of milk at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, scoop the mixture and roll it between your palms to form balls. This recipe makes approximately 12–16 protein balls, depending on the size.
Chill and Serve
Enjoy immediately, or refrigerate for at least 30 minutes for a firmer texture.
- Protein powder: Different protein powders absorb liquid differently. You may need to add a little more or less milk depending on the brand and type of protein powder used.
- Oat flour: You can purchase oat flour or make your own by blending old-fashioned rolled oats in a high-speed blender until finely ground.
- Peanut butter: Natural peanut butter works well, but make sure it is well stirred before measuring. You can substitute almond butter or another nut or seed butter if desired.
- Chocolate chips: Mini dark chocolate chips distribute chocolate flavor throughout every bite, but you can also use mini semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Texture: For softer protein balls, add a little more milk. For firmer protein balls, refrigerate before serving.
