How to make Smash Gyros

  1. For the gyros, combine the ground meat, onion, garlic, parsley, and seasonings until fully combined. Roll into 6 balls.

Ingredients
  

Ingredients for the Smash Gyros
  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1/2 red or yellow onion finely minced or grated
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Small tortillas or pita bread
Tzatziki sauce:
  • 3/4 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber grated and juice slightly squeezed out (if your yogurt if super thick, don’t get rid of all the cucumber juice, but if your yogurt is pretty thin, try to squeeze as much cucumber juice out so the sauce is not too runny)
  • 1 small clove garlic (or 1 tsp garlic powder) minced
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon (or 1 tbsp lemon juice)
  • 1 tablespoons fresh dill chopped
  • 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt or more to taste
Optional toppings:
  • lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red onion, olives, dill, hummus, feta cheese, tzatziki

Prepare Tzatziki
  1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl and refrigerate until ready.
Prep Gyro Meat

    The flavor was very good. Leftovers were also good. It took me longer to make but that is because it was my first time making it and I didn’t use a Blackstone/griddle.
